Sea Sick Steve puts a lot of good energy into his work, and knows what life's about, it's in his music...
Watch out for Imelda May and her band, they're talent with a passion - Rock 'n Roll Irish Rockabilly style. Very different, knows her music history, she has credentials talks about Camden, a lot...
The quality and standard of British terrestial television and radio has finally began to improve since somewhere around the 1990's, sattellite and cable created a disastourous recipe for repeats, old tat, and repeats of more crap through virtually the whole of the 1990's. Lets hope the line in fresh new programme making continues.
If the rumours are true, I think we all agree that someone or something should put Channel Five out of it's misery, I fondly remember the very second it began it began broadcasting, but found it remained a disappointment. It would be a diamond opportunity for broadcast innovation on a terrestial base...
Tinie Tempah keep it up, you're fresher than fresh....
Little to care about in the midst of sailing, football and a celebration of war films (there are more appropriate and gentle ways to honour the lives of the fallen, past and present).
However lovin' the focus on African culture currently on the box. Favourites have been 'Welcome To Lagos' and 'Songs Of Praise' visit to South Africa. When I hear their national anthem 'Nkosi sikelel' iAfrika' gives me goosebumps, and brings a tear to the eye - everytime. Also diggin' very much Jonathan Dimbelby's enthusiatic represenstation 'An African Journey With David Dimbleby' BBC2. Suck it all up while it lasts.
The Prisoner what a let down.
RIP Malcom Mclaren, a dance version of the opera Madame Butterfly, The Doutble Dutch, Soweto, I'll treasure those songs, your genius artistic pursuits, and critcal nature. Me, and my lost loved one, loved your creative mind...
NEWSNIGHT REVIEW, 11pm, Friday 9th April, 2010. An interesting debate around aethsm, religion, rationalism. Yo intelligensia, don't knock religion, it's cheaper than alcohol...I mean it.
THE CLEVELAND SHOW, 10pm, Monday's, E4. Cleveland was never one of the strongest characters in 'Family Guy' but he did 'fit in' so to speak. To be polite, I'd say the show doesn't translate very well, but prefer to say, the progressive, issue prone parody we expected in 'Family Guy' fails to hit the spot here - please, do us a favour and switch off!
As a TV license payer, I feel entitled to prompt, remember 'THE REAL McCOY'? The groundbreaking, 1980's, black comedy series where we were allowed to laugh at culture, but didn't get any further...'The Musical sketch 'Irish Moss' was class!
VICTORIA: A ROYAL LOVE STORY, BBC1. Sunday 14th March 2010. Love historical documentaries, particularly about Royal history etc, However, pretty much fed up of this pompous airbrushed portrayal, bumped up with an appearance by Prince Charles. With all that Victoria achieved as a woman, it would have been interesting to understand more about her inner conflicts, any sense of regret related to the grand empire. Can't help but wonder...for better or worse.
Labour MP, Harriet Harmon leads a march for INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY across the Millenium Bridge, notice anything different....
Why, Kenneth Branagh, Brit actor, felt his acting style suited the lead role, I don't know. The original Norwegian series of 'Wallander' has a preferably more understated character. A re-run of the orginal series please..
RIP Micheal Foot MP, he was REAL Labour. I've a fond memory of him in the late 1970's comin' dahn ah street, when I was a nipper. I remember me, me brothers and sisters following him around because we had never seen anyone famous before.
Carole Vorderman former 'Count Down' presenter, on 'Question Time', words fail me, Will Self author, job well done, good man...
Lady Ga Ga Avante Garde pop singer, live on 'Tonight with Jonathan Ross' she's a genius. Hope Jon gets another job - he's too talented to be off the screen.
Lovin' the way Hollywood has taken British Actors and Actresses, seriously, the best, thing is that they're culturally diverse, go HBO!!
Bit late with this one, nevertheless, in 'Being Human' Leonora Critchlow, young Black British Actress, gets the best one liners, her silliness cracks me up man! She is one to watch out for in the future. Nearly cried when she was sucked through the spooky door...gave me the shivers, blurgh!
For those in the know, Julie McNamara recoginsed Disability Arts campaigner recieved an award for her achievements from the 'South Bank Show'... a breakthrough, however she spoilt it by saying it was 'controversial for a White, middleclass, blonde-haired, woman to recieve an award' - get a grip woman, it's not, really, it's not!
